For this project, I had to find and share examples of Information Security as reported by the media and evaluate my sources.
This article shares a hacking incident where McDonald's corporate Twitter account was hacked. Hacking means that an unauthorized user was able to gain access and tweet on McDonald's behalf. Large companies like McDonald's need to protect their image, and cyberattacks like this reflect negatively on the brand. Unauthorized access of accounts can be prevented by tightening the app's security settings, using strong passwords, and turning on two-factor authentication if it is an option.

Although it's unclear precisely what happened, the Baltimore County Public School System suffered a ransomware attack. Ransomware attacks are cyberattacks that lock up the organization's information systems until they pay a ransom to release them. In essence, it's much like a kidnapping, but instead of children, the hackers hold the computer systems hostage. Ransomware attacks are hard to prevent, but you can help by not clicking on unverified links, downloading untrusted attachments or programs, using strong passwords, and keeping security software updated.
