English Province Day Matlock Sept 14th 2019

Scroll Down.

We are “to see with the eyes of Christ,

to judge with his compassionate heart, and

to act with the strength of this relationship.”

We began in Matlock at about 10.30am but Sisters, Associates and Friends were arriving from 10.00am onwards to catch up on chat, news and to meet those whom they may not have seen for a while. We began with this simple video above that helped to focus our attention and prayer on this Season of Creation before we began to look at Laudato Si.

After our video we began a short discussion on what Leaving No One Behind means to all of us. We were to look at what it means, who might indeed be left behind and also how it can be the case that so many are indeed left behind.

The Laudato Si Presentation that can be viewed here then took us all through the guidance and inspiration that Laudato Si is to so many. Our inspection of this encyclical was though the lens of Leaving No One Behind.

After Lunch there were two specific areas on which we were to concern ourselves. Firstly we took a tour of how the UK prepared for and delivered on their Voluntary National Review at the UN last July (2019)

The second part of the afternoon was given over to our search for how we can take action to ensure that we Leave No One Behind.

This presentation can be found here

Below also is the UK VNR but the entire video presentation of the UK Voluntary National Review can be seen HERE

We finished with a prayer to creation and delivered this resource to all who felt it would be of help.

100 Ways to Implement Laudato Si in your Parish Here

Up until the night before the presentation I was editing and changing all that I had intended to deliver. I was listening to the BBC World Service in bed when I heard of the news of the Greta Thunberg Climate Strike at the White House and more worryingly Trumps granting of permission to drill for oil and gas in the Arctic Circle (Alaska). In fact so much of this newshour was taken up with environmental news that I downloaded it all and it can be heard HERE

I only played a section of the new in my presentation but the entire relevant sections can be heard by clicking the link above.

We then finished with a prayer to creation
