Overview

There are generally three types of Korean courses available at HUFS:

Regular Semester Korean Language and Culture Courses

    • HUFS credits earned
    • Register during course registration period

Course sections taught in English

    • IELTS - overall band score of at least 6.0
    • TOEFL/TOEFL ITP - 550 or higher
      • computer-based 213 or higher
      • internet-based 80 or higher
    • TOEIC - 750 or higher
    • letter from a university professor familiar both with the expected standards of an English-medium university program and with the student's ability to perform in an English-medium academic atmosphere.

Course sections taught in Korean

    • Korean Language Proficiency Required from the following options:
      • TOPIK 3
      • KLAT 150+ (B2)
      • 15 hours [4-5 classes] of university-level Korean language courses (e.g., Korean 101, 102, 201, 202, 301)
      • HUFS Intensive Korean Program Level 4 Certificate

Intensive Korean Language Program

    • Not a regular, credit-earning class at HUFS
    • No prior experience necessary
    • Orientation / Take level test on March 4 10:00am
    • Placed into Level 1 - 6
    • 200 hour Certificate program
      • Monday - Friday
      • 09:00-13:00

informal korean language programs

Introductory Evening Korean (aka Survival Korean)

Seoul Campus

    • Not a regular, credit-earning class at HUFS
    • 40 hour Certificate program
      • 18:00-20:00
      • Monday/Wednesday, or Tuesday/Thursday
    • Sign up in March by Thursday (you will be sent a Google Form for signing up via email with additional instructions)

k-buddy program

Global Campus

    • 1:1 mentoring program (1 International students, 1 Korean students)
    • Free of Charge and Optional Program
    • Matched depending on the language that students want to learn

For example, If one of Korean student wants to learn Spanish, he/she will be matched with international student who can speak Spanish and want to learn Korean.
