Leading Change Working Group
WORKING GROUP OVERVIEW
Communities that aspire to operationalize their Portrait of a Graduate and “do high school differently” are embarking on a complex, long-term process that involves a wide range of stakeholders with diverse talents, backgrounds and interests. Effectively managing transformational change in schools requires a sustained and detailed focus on planning and project management with clear lines of accountability and open channels of communication.
The goal of the Leading Change Working Group is to create opportunities for PoG project managers and core facilitators to discuss best practices for managing design teams and integrating students into the design and early stage PoG implementation work. The Working Group will provide:
Meaningful time for peer dialogue, creating space to share key lessons learned and discuss common challenges
Focus on student leadership through highlighting strategies to authentically engage, elevate, and empower students
Spotlight successful strategies within the cohort and from other peer leaders
Invite students to participate and organize student-led peer group discussions
TARGET AUDIENCE
The primary audience for this Working Group is PoG project managers and core facilitators.
The Working Group aims to recruit at least one project manager/core facilitator per Portrait community.
Schools/districts may have multiple leaders join the group, especially for larger teams.
In addition to educators, the group hopes to include 2-3 student leaders (grades 9-12) from participating districts.
