The theme of this gamejam was = Let there be chaos!
The game would be rated in 6 categories: Game design, Fun, Innovation, Theme, Graphics and audio.
We had only 1 week to complete the game !
Search for free assets that we could use for our game. Like the 3D spaceship and environment.
Creating the 4 end scenes. 3 of them were inside the pot where the player escaped in. 1 scene was from the ship blowing up!
Create the dialog of the AI of the ship that helps the player. I had to write the script and find a program where I can turn the text into sound! I then used my music program to give it sound effects so it sounded more like a robotic voice!
Created the particle effects that we used to make it more chaotic inside the spaceship. Effects were, smog, fire, explosions and steam!
Putting the scene together with help from some other students
Creating the secret room just to troll people who would step inside!
Game testing and fixing errors.
Helping others out when they came across errors.
Making the space background and let it turn around with script.
Making sound effects.
We all started thinking of possible games that we wanted to create. We all voted for the one game we would be making. The game we voted for was Spaceotic Escape! We wanted to create a spaceship game where the player would wake up, getting known everybody already left and he/she has to gather stuff and make it out alive as quickly as he/she can with all the stuff needed to survive the journey!
The more time passes, the more chaotic it becomes inside the spaceship!
We choose to use Minecraft for our prototyping! It was so much fun and Minecraft was more helpful every second we worked in it. We created the spaceship and tried to play the game this way with every tool we could use. We also asked people to tryout our game and use it as research to see how they reacted to the game and things they faced while playing.
