Προέλευση

Ο χώρος του Ευξείνου Πόντου ήταν μια πολύ πλούσια περιοχή. Η παρουσία των Ελλήνων στον Πόντο και η φιλόξενη διαθεσή τους, συνδέθηκε με την αλλαγή του ονόματος της θάλασσας. Ο άξενος έγινε φιλόξενος, δηλαδή Εύξεινος Πόντος.

Η Αργοναυτική εκστρατεία, ο μύθος του Φρίξου και της Έλλης, ο Προμηθέας δεσμώτης δεμένος στον Καύκασο, η Ιφιγένεια στην Ταυρίδα, ο άθλος του Ηρακλή στο νησί Αριτιάς, οι Αμαζόνες και πολλοί άλλοι ελληνικοί μύθοι, επιβεβαιώνουν την ελληνική παρουσία στην περιοχή του Πόντου πριν από χιλιάδες χρόνια.

The Euxinos Sea area was a very rich area. The presence of the Greeks in the Pontus and their hospitable attitude was linked to the change of the name of the sea. The inhospitable became hospitable, i.e. the Euxinos Sea.

The Argonautic expedition, the myth of Phrixus and Helle, Prometheus bound in the Caucasus, Iphigenia in Taurida, the labor of Hercules on the island of Aretias, the Amazons and many other Greek myths, confirm the Greek presence in the Pontus region before thousands of years.
