We made our way from the gingerbread buildings of Toruń to the modern city of Warsaw today. On the way, we stopped at the Skansen Open Air Museum. We were exposed to different era styles of traditional homes including several original buildings and the museum's working farm. After a much needed walk in the woods for some forest bathing, we hit the road to Warsaw.
Our guide describing life here over the years including her grandparents' home that is part of the museum
It was nice to trek through the woods after walking through so many cobblestoned cities.
Rosehips ready to be gathered
One of the older homes with a garden that had most of us looking over the fencing.
A bit about Warsaw as it currently stands. Warsaw was leveled upon a direct order of Hitler himself in anger over the Warsaw Uprising in 1945 (more about that in the days to come). As a result, the city is incredibly modern and includes Europe's tallest building. Even the palace was build on my lifetime. This is a huge contrast with much of what you will see in Europe. Warsaw is also the birthplace of my favorite composer, Frederick Chopin. After a group dinner, we attended a Chopin concert (our B&B is the only location in Warsaw to hold a daily Chopin concert).
Tomorrow is the city waking tour with a few afternoon. Diane and Kristen strongly considering the Cold War Museum, but you never know what tomorrow will bring!
Our Hotel Room, View, and Fresh Honeycomb Breakfast
Diane and Kristen with Mike and Maryanne. They had been on even more Rick Steves' tours than Diane, so it was fun comparing tours and learning about other trips added to our bucket lists.

We often have one location with the best view of the city from the hotel roof on each of our tours. Warsaw did not disappoint.
