Prof birch

Professor Birch is the Pokémon teacher native to the Hoenn region who specializes in the study of Pokémon habitats and distributions. He is the father of the player character's rival in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and their remakes.

Brendan

Brendan (Japanese: ユウキ Yūki) is the male choice for the player character in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald and their Generation VI remakes Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. He also serves as the rival in the same games if the player chooses to play as the female character.

May (Japanese: ハルカ Haruka) is a Pokémon Coordinator from Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire. She is Ash's former traveling companion in the Hoenn region. May's goal is to compete in Pokémon Contests and win ribbons, win the Grand Festivals of the different regions, and become a top Coordinator.

May is a ten year old Pokemon Coordinator. She eventually becomes interested in Pokemon Contests and decided on a goal to become a top Coordinator. She traveled with Ash, Brock, and her younger brother Max, and completed in Pokemon Contests throughout the Hoenn and Kanto regions.
