Greg Stuart's Professional Learning Portfolio

Hi, my name is Greg Stuart. I am in my third year of the Bachelor of Education program at Mount Royal University with a minor in Social Studies. I have spent the last decade building my skills in the workforce, primarily in personal finance, when I decided to pursue a new adventure in the world of teaching.

My goal as a teacher is to provide confidence amongst my students in a caring environment while making learning fun and engaging. I believe that effort is just as important as getting the right answer. I wish to be a positive role model for young students and help facilitate their entry into the world.

I first realized that I wanted to be a teacher when my nephew asked me a question about how the Sun worked. His face lit up as I explained to him how the Earth revolves around the Sun. The look of joy was so rewarding to me and I hope to instill the same feeling of joy towards future students.

I respectfully acknowledge and honour that we are located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut'ina, and the Îyârhe Nakoda. We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, and the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is Mohkinstsis, which we now call the City of Calgary.

The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
