PRAYER FOCUS
OUTREACH
Dearest friends and co-labourers of God, I greet you in the Name of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Please pray along with me:
O God our Heavenly Father, this month, we celebrated Singapore’s 57th National Day. We thank You for giving us leaders and people who have built this nation into what it is today. We thank You for blessing us with a place where we can freely praise and worship You, and where we can freely proclaim and confess that Your Son Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour. We ask that You be gracious to us and make Your face to shine on us as a nation. We ask that You continue to make us strong but also peace-loving; we pray that You bless us with prosperity but also give us a generous heart; and we pray that You imbue in us a sense of Your justice and mercy toward all.
Lord God, help us to acknowledge that You are high above all the nations and that Your glory is above the heavens. And help us to remember that while we are a nation filled with people of many races and religions – citizens and foreign talents – that You reign over us all and You love each and every one of us. We also pray for wise and thoughtful leaders to lead our nation with justice and mercy – and that they will continue to establish policies that will give care to the poor and needy, the marginalised, and the unfortunate.
We lift our children in the Hope Student Care Centre to You, O God. We pray for them to be diligent in their schoolwork, to be obedient to their parents and teachers, and to be loving towards each other. We pray especially for the Primary 6 children who will be going through their PSLE this year. We ask that You give them strength to study hard and bless them with energy and wisdom to prepare for and sit through the exams. We also ask for the Hope SCC teachers who will be helping them to prepare for the exams, that You give them an extra dose of patience as they face this stress together with the kids.
We ask, O God, that You look upon the homeless and rough sleepers with mercy. Even as our nation’s leaders draw up plans to provide financial and social help to our citizens, we pray that our homeless friends do not get left behind or fall between the cracks. We pray that we will be able to point them towards where they would also be able to get the assistance that everyone else is getting.
We pray for the poor and needy families whom we minister to in Blks 223A Serangoon Ave 4, Blk 8 Lor Lew Lian, and Blks 201-210 Serangoon Central. We know that we will face a global recession soon and that our friends here would be quite badly affected by it. We ask that we will be able to continue to give generously to them and to help them to alleviate some of their economic difficulties. We also pray that their eyes would be open to see Your mighty hand in the things that we do, and their hearts would be open to receive Your love that we will bring to them as we serve them.
We ask all these things in Your Son Jesus Christ’s most wonderful name. Amen!
