West Catland Mountain Range
West Catland Mountain Range
The central mountain range of West Catland spans across several climate zones. Although the northernmost mountains are green, no vertebrates have made it that far, and are only found at the Southern half of the mountain range. Near the centre of the range the mountains are drier, and although glaciers form around the very tops of the mountains, they don't persist down into the desert-like lower hills and valleys. At the very South of the range the climate is cooler. While still hot in the lowlands, the elevation in the highlands causes the climate and biomes to resemble those of more temperate climates, with harsh winters, deciduous forest and many conifers. At the rocky mountain peaks there is little vegetation, mainly hardy grasses, mosses and lichens.
Below is a simplified ecosystem diagram of the central mountain range of West Catland. It shows the Southernmost cooler mountain ecosystem to the left, and a warmer, drier mid-latitude ecosystem to the right. Note, not all species are described officially on this site. Described species are: Sheep Rabbits, Summer Rabbits, Spring Mice, Hairball Mice, Rocats, Pallis, Sprucenut Sparrows and Soaring Sparrows.
