Getting there
Antanarivo ("Tana") is the capital of Madagascar. Ankevo is located on the southwest coast on the edge of the Mozambique Channel in the Menabé region. Morondava, the regional capital, is 60 km to the north.
From Europe, it takes about ten hours by plane to arrive at Ivato Tana airport. Then you can take another plane on a national route to Morondava (1h30). We may prefer 16 hours by bus "express"", a more authentic means of travel for the broke.
If the wind is conciliatory, Ankevo is then between 4 and 8 hours from Morondava by sea canoe ; the transport is a bit random and sometimes wet. Alternatively, in the dry season, you can rent a 4x4 bush car with a driver. It's more expensive and quick, a 2-hour journey if the machine doesn't break down. The access on foot is also superb from the coast: about ten hours of walking between dunes, lagoons, rocks and mangroves.
Ankevo is deserved!
