• The situation of the Covid virus is quite unclear in Madagascar.
  Few cases counted, but hospitals "overwhelmed"... The Minister of Health's call for help from the international community, immediately counterbalanced by President Rajoélina who praises the merits of his initiative to produce and distribute "Covid-Organics", an organic herbal tea based on Artemisia annua. This plant, used in traditional Chinese medicine, is rather known for its preventive anti-malarial properties.
  Confinement is relative and delicate in Madagascar, the Antanarivo region has been under temporary blockade of entrances and exits on several occasions. Primary schools in Ankevo have been closed since April and until 1/11, the date of the start of the school year. Only the exam class with 11 students is effective to prepare for the school certificate, tests postponed to the beginning of September. The planes remain grounded at least until 31/8, which does not facilitate mission planning. 

• Death in Ankevo of the young Regado, 17 years old, following an epileptic seizure. Stéphanie, the manager of the dispensary, had been following this young man for several years and was on a trip to Morondava at the time of the fatal crisis, which underlines the precariousness of Ancheville. P&B had contributed for 3 years to Regado's treatment and had financed his hospitalization in Amtsirabé last year. We are sad and our efforts have been insufficient...

• 9/07: Death in Evian of Marcel Willems, the founder of ADDA, the association behind the Ankevo Pirogues and Baobabs action. The link to Michel Lohisse's very moving tribute to his deceased friend: a route to the Menabé in Madagascar.  All our condolences to Véronique, Michel's wife and long-distance companion of the ADDA. 

• 24/06: The pledge of €20,900 from the Luciole Foundation (Hosted by the Institut de France) supplemented by contributions from the Rue des Iris and Archambault Foundations makes it possible to start the solar drinking water supply project in the villages of Ankevo. A mission to the site is planned for the autumn for the implementation with the joint work of local and French experts.

• Ankevo's pirogue and Baobabs: the projects for 2020, a film by Michel Lohisse presented on 11/3 at the Lions Club of Liège (5 mins).

• Film 3mn Books for the Menabé (Madagascar), a joint operation of the Bouquin Volant, Ankevo Pirogues et baobabs and the Archambault Foundation.

• Presentation of a preliminary project for the supply of drinking water to Ankevo (search for co-financing with the FA).
