9am: Amaia; Malachi & Alilia worked on EP stage 8 number assessment. We used the fraction wall, talked about inequalities and that percentage means 'out of 100'. Alilia made notes and Amaia did some spelling on EP.
11:30am to 12:30am: Working with decimals: Alilia; Aleki; Foli; Sunipa; Pita; Amaia; Iosefo; Poni & Ngahuia. Sorry I was waiting on the wrong link so was a few minutes late. Some came late, some left early. We made real progress in our understanding of the connections between decimals, fractions and percentages which was cool.
11:30am to 12:30am: Working with decimals: Links:
1pm: Focus on rounding: 7 levels! We also looked at Estimating powers and roots. Alilia, Sunipa, Amaia, Gracie & Renei.
9am: Hone was keen to repeat the Stage 8 Number assessment for the 6th time on EP. Alilia and Malachi joined a bit late and also repeated this assessment. We tried to find a decent digital number line to help understand decimals. We drew factor trees to find the HCF from the common primes. We worked out powers, like 9^3 and LCM. Converting a percentage to a fraction keeps coming up and we tend to forget what percentage means. So we noticed the percent sign has similar symbols in it to the number 100. This might help us remember "out of 100".
11:30am: Warm up with "Know your place" and Multiplication by Heart. We continued to be guided by the Stage 8 Assessment for Number and worked on LCM and HCF. We also revisited the number half way between 8.8 and 8.9, and using the number line worked out 8.8 less 0.5 visually. Alilia and Hone did awesome blogs. Ngahuia, Gracie and Foli turned up for a short time, and we do not really know why they left so soon. Mr N and Mrs Cardoza attended, meaning there were more teachers than students today!
1pm: Alilia, Gracie, Richard & Foli. Number line exploration. Was Hone there too?
Fun Friday - Kahoots and games all day.
9am: Malachai (shared a riddle); Alilia (Created and shared a Kahoot); Jeremiah; Hone and Gracie.
11:30am: Mr N; Mrs C (Scary!); Hone; Aleki; Gracie; Alilia; Sebastian; Sunipa.
1pm: Hone; Alilia & Sunipa.
