Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
9am to 9:25am - Mathex and Coding Club - for inspiration
11:30 to 12:25pm - Year 5,6,7&8 Mathematics Together - for everyone
1pm to 1:25pm - Maths or Coding Support - for questions
All students are welcome to attend one or more of these sessions. You can choose the time that suits you best. The 11:30 session is the longest one, so if you only attend one it would be the best one to attend.
Students will work together by taking turns to "present" their screens, or working on a shared document. They will create blog posts whilst "presenting" in order to ensure all students understand what their blog posts can include. There will be fun links posted in the chat function and plenty of time for questions. Students will be actively learning and sharing.

During our online meeting there was a problem asking us to calculate the mean of the first five square numbers. In order to do this we needed to know what a square number is. So we went to Mathigon Polypad to get a visual representation of square numbers. We started with 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, the first five whole numbers. Then we squared each number: 1*1=1; 2*2=4; 3*3=9; 4*4=16; 5*5=25 so the "first five square numbers" are 1, 4, 9, 16 & 25. We added up 1+4+9+16+25=(1+9)+(4+16)+25=10+20+25=55. Then to find the MEAN we divided 55 by 5 to get 11. The answer is 11. (Note that "*" is used for multiplication, this works in Google Sheets and in Google Search Calculator).
