Prototec: Students can test their numeracy skills and generate certificates to prove their level of competency.
Mathigon: Cutting edge resource, with all sorts of virtual manipulatives, a timeline of mathematics and excellent lessons.
Multiplication by Heart: This has multiple visual representations to help students understand their tables.
Transum Trophies: These learning tasks have multiple levels of difficulty which makes learning easier. The trophy system motivates students as their efforts are rewarded, and they like to compete with each other. The best way to find a suitable transum task is to use google. For example “Transum algebra graphs”, or “Transum algebra patterns” etc.
Desmos: A graphing calculator which helps students play with graphs, also see teacher desmos for tasks like “desmos marbles”.
Desmos Geometry: Students can explore geometrical transformations whilst creating digital art.
Maths is Fun: This has excellent notes and helpful interactives.
Gapminder: An excellent statistical resource that could also be used for social studies.
Priscilla created a Google Site in the second half of 2021. During lockdown many of the digital resources used were included on this site. This may help teachers who are new to free online mathematical resources.
Liz Sneddon has a wonderful website for year 9 to 13 which includes content from level 2 of the New Zealand Curriculum.
Census At School has teaching resources as well as the data from previous census at school events. This is a wonderful way for students to experience how statistics are collected, and has an excellent PPDAC poster.
