After two years of operation, my school decided to let go of our SNO media website. It was disappointing because all my published work went away with it, but it also opened a door for a new opportunity. Over the course of the year I have been helping build back up a new version of Southridge Squawk, all from scratch. While it is still a work in progress, I am learning how to design a media website that will be functional (and cheaper) for my school long after I graduate.
Above is our new homepage that I assembled. Below the header picture (not shown) are three images that depict what Southridge Student Media is about.
Above is where all of our digital stories will run in more of a blog-style format. It's not as nice as SNO, but it will eventually become an efficient way to share some of our stories with the student body and even the local public.
In addition to what we write, I created a page to archive and log past episodes of our student TV show, Hawk Talk. This will be a good resource for students to visit to catch up on past episodes of the show as well as find cut-up segments available for their enjoyement.
And, of course, I helped design a page that focuses on some of our staff roles that could inspire some students to reach out in hopes of eventually filling those roles.
