Because I am one of the only people that contributes to Southridge's student media website, it means that I have to edit a lot of my own work. Of course, I have help from my advisors and others who go through it for me, but first I double check my own work to see what works and what I may have missed.
Over the course of four years I have been lucky enough to have a great support system with my advisors and other connections outside of school that have gone through my work when I am done. When it comes to a longer-term project, I make sure to get as many eyes on a piece as possible and receiving that feedback helps make me a better writer. Oftentimes, I learn a lot from seeing some of those corrections.
Comments above are from my journalism advisor. After bigger pieces he will help me break them down and provide advice for what I can do to improve. His advice above helped me tweak the structure and organization of the feature piece, and it received great feedback when published.
