This series is a dedicated series to sensitive topics.

Talks about rape, war, paedophilia, addiction, mistreatment and abuse of minors within their own family. I talk about the human rights of women reduced to having no rights, about girls forced to marry at an age that they should play instead.

This is with the intent to raise awareness in society, to incite families to instruct future generations to respect the individual and the weak. Talk about it, so that there is no hypocrisy in feeling good about yourself. Talk about it, so those who act like such do not feel justified by tradition, or by those around them who pretend that is okay. There is no dignity in taking away dignity from someone who cannot defend themselves.

This painting was created after yet another gang rape against a young girl, and once again an attempt is made to place the blame for a crime committed by a group of boys who planned the rape on the victim.

I created this painting tired of comments such as:

"It's the parent's fault who didn't raise him well, and the girl shouldn't have gotten drunk either";

"It's today's society's fault, it leaves too much freedom;"

as if the violence of the same calibre had not occurred in the past.

"Of course, but she asked for them!"

as if a woman, a girl, a child, is not expecting anything else in life than to provoke an adult, a relative, a boss, a stranger met on the street, a neighbour, a family friend as if she lived waiting for someone to ruin her existence forever.

This painting represents each victim.

Here, depicted a girl within her emotional sphere that had been broken, and shattered by the hands of the group that used sexual, physical and emotional violence on her. The hands represent aggressiveness but also gestures of sweetness like a caress. Those hands violate and break her protection, damaging her entire existence.

Let's remember that a victim has no faults which instead must be sought in society, in customs and in education but must first and foremost be attributed to those who carry out these actions, without justifying what cannot be justified.

This artwork showcases a distinctive style, which I've chosen to convey the associated concept. In this context, we address a distressing aspect of reality: a recurring issue in Italy. The number of victims, including wives, girlfriends, sisters, fathers, and possessive lovers, has reached an alarming level. Astonishingly, a study reveals that these victims have surpassed the count of soldiers who lost their lives in wars, highlighting a harsh truth.

Furthermore, in a separate study, women were asked how they would respond if the world were devoid of men for 24 hours.

Responses to the question about what women would do if the world were without men for 24 hours included:

"I would run wearing both headphones."
"I would dress as I like."
"I would wear a costume."
"I would take a walk at night to look at the stars," among other possibilities.

The painting depicts the ongoing fear and lack of safety experienced by women, whether encountering a man by chance or living in proximity to one. It highlights a woman who is no longer among the living, a tragic victim of her partner, a young woman whose promising future was abruptly extinguished, along with the life that had yet to see the world beyond her mother's womb. Moreover, it symbolizes the broader issue of women who suffer at the hands of their current or former partners.

Each flower within the artwork represents a different woman with a unique story, yet they all share the same underlying theme. The birthmarks symbolize the families of these victims, and the dewdrops signify the tears shed in the wake of these heartbreaking events.

Once again, addressing the grim issue of child abuse, we confront the distressing reality of abuses carried out by fathers, brothers, and grandfathers. These unspeakable acts transpire within the very confines of what should be a safe haven, perpetrated by those entrusted with protection.

The focus here is on the insidious abuses that occur within families, and I cannot help but express my profound revulsion. This sentiment is compounded by the indignant outcry of mothers who witness these horrors, often turning a blind eye or even blaming the young victims. They coerce silence, valuing the avoidance of conversation over acknowledging the profound shame of these heinous acts, which they inadvertently condone and perpetuate.

Navigating a sensitive subject, I've carefully contemplated whether to present this painting, not due to its message, but rather its portrayal, which has ignited debates in my close circle.

Frequently, it is mistaken for having religious connotations; however, I want to clarify that this artwork isn't rooted in religion. My position stems from a profound respect for all forms of belief and religion. I firmly believe that if someone's faith allows them to find peace and overcome life's challenges, it enriches their existence.

To set the record straight, my focus is not on religion, but on human rights. Specifically, I emphasize the rights of women to move about freely without the fear that a slight step beyond an arbitrary line, a particular way of dressing, or an unintentional exposure to skin will put them in danger. This painting underscores the importance of rights such as access to knowledge, education, and the freedom to drive – the very foundations of our civilization.

This painting carries the heartfelt intention of depicting the tears shed by mothers who lose their children for reasons that stand apart from their ideals, interests, and aspirations. It delves into the realm of conflicts, not those endorsed by any but rather driven by capitalism and the desires of a few.

It doesn't centre around any single nation at war but encompasses all ongoing conflicts today, which are symbolized by flags (and I apologize for any omissions, as I couldn't cover all ongoing conflicts). My aim was to feature the flags of countries I knew were entangled in war, while others I tried to research on the web, although I might not have been entirely successful in capturing everyone. Nevertheless, the overarching purpose was to shed light on conflicts involving entire nations as well as smaller wars, both of which leave behind innocent victims—those who have no stake in these conflicts. It's the children, husbands, wives, mothers, and fathers who simply find themselves in the wrong place in the world, whose only misfortune is being born in a region plagued by strife.

The mothers are symbolically represented by Mother Earth, who watches as forests, waters, and nature fall victim to destructive weaponry. It touches on the lives of children who will never experience a brighter tomorrow, depicted through a game that once belonged to someone. This painting signifies the senseless destruction and the toll it takes on innocent lives.

It speaks of those overlooked nations where clean water is as precious as gold, where children rummage through garbage for sustenance, and where dreams of a hopeful future have faded away. It's about those who have lost the luxury of chasing the latest fashion or the newest generation of smartphones because they've lost so much more.
