Specific groups within the community

Students explore FOUR specific groups within the community who may be experiencing inequities by examining the nature of the group, their specific needs and level of access to services.  Two specific groups are mandatory as detailed in the syllabus. These are known as Category A groups. 

Students undertake a detailed investigation of TWO of the four groups to examine the role that positive social environments can have on enhancing the wellbeing of the group and individuals within the group. These are the Category B optional groups

Category A groups (Mandatory groups) 

• Youth

• Rural and Remote families

Category B groups 

• Aged 

• Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities  

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples 

• People with disabilities

• Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex communities 

• Sole parents 

• Homeless people
