Two major infrastructure projects funded under the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) have successfully passed final inspection, marking a significant milestone for local development in the province. From January 12 to 14, a joint team from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional and Provincial Offices validated the completion of the road upgrading at Sitio Ulaan in Buruanga and the development of open recreational spaces in Malay. Regional Director Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero, CESO III, commended the local government units (LGUs) for their efficient implementation, noting that these facilities are now poised for formal turnover and public use.
The three-day mission, led by LGOO II Arwin F. Villegas and Engineer III Shella Mie S. Tubang, went beyond physical inspection. The team conducted courtesy visits with Aklan Provincial Director Dino A. Ponsaran, CESO V, as well as Buruanga Mayor Allan P. Dagohoy and Malay Mayor Frolibar S. Bautista. These engagements ensured that the administrative side of the projects aligned with physical accomplishments, reinforcing the partnership between national agencies and local leadership in delivering quality public infrastructure.
With the physical works cleared, the focus now shifts to the administrative closure of the projects. The DILG has advised the concerned LGUs to finalize essential documentary requirements, including Certificates of Completion, the 100% Statement of Work Accomplished (SWA), and the Report of Disbursement (ROD). Additionally, officials must secure a 12-month warranty certificate from contractors and provide proof of fund reversion where applicable. Once these final compliance measures are met, the projects will be scheduled for inauguration, officially opening them to serve the communities of Buruanga and Malay.
