As our day-to-day activities are really being altered and we try to navigate through all the changes we are being faced with, the PCRSF committee has made the hard decision to cancel the 2020 Peace Country Regional Science Fair. We originally had hoped to be able to host the fair at a later date, however now that schools are closed, and with the cancellation of the Canada Wide Science Fair we feel we must move forward in this direction. Because the 2020 fair has been canceled we invite all students who qualified this year to enter their projects next year. They have the opportunity to improve their project, or come with the same project. Logistics to all this will be dealt with at a later date but we do want students to be reassured that their hard work will be recognized at a later date. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out.
We truly appreciate your support and understanding.

In light of recent events we are facing with COVID-19, the Peace Country Regional Science Foundation Committee has decided to postpone this year’s science fair until further notice. This decision was not taken lightly and after reviewing the province’s guidelines for gatherings, consulting with other science fair committees across the province, as well as the organizers of the Canada Wide Science Fair we feel this is the responsible decision at this time. The situation is rapidly evolving, and should it improve we may be able to host the fair at a later date. We will keep you updated on the plans for this year’s event as they become available. For now, please have a look at the FAQ below for further information.
Should we not be able to host the fair this year, all students who qualified this year will be invited to attend next year’s fair.
We truly appreciate your support and understanding,
PCRSF Committee

What about a “virtual” fair? Our committee discussed the possibility of having students submit a short video presentation of their project for judging, with subsequent online interviews of highly ranked projects. However, there are no current plans to go ahead with this option at the moment.
I qualified for the PCRSF this year, if the fair doesn’t happen will I be able to attend next year with the project I qualified with this year? Yes, absolutely, we would love to see your project and honour the time you put into it.
If PCRSF does have a fair will any participants be able to go to Canada Wide Science Fair? At the moment we don’t know. Follow this link to CWSF for up to date information about it.
Did you know that there is a word that means "to write or study, especially at night"? That word is lucubrate. I'll just mention that because it might be useful.
Anyways...
With the 2020 PCRSF less than a month away - March 19 and 20 at the Belle Petroleum Centre in Peace River, to be specific - we have posted a preliminary schedule here. Please take note of the new format, with registration on Thursday evening and judging taking place on Friday. We are all looking forward to meeting you soon and seeing the results of your lucubration! (told'ya)

The final piece of news in this post is that the 2020 PCRSF posters are now available! Beyond just looking awesome, they each tell an interesting science story, so take a look at the references at the bottom of the posters, and have fun discovering more science! Also feel free to share them with everyone you know!
Make sure to keep an eye on this site, as it will be updated with important information as the fair approaches. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact one of the board members. We look forward to seeing you in March!
