While at ASB I developed a great group of moms who volunteered every week - the Library Lovelies. They helped with processing books, shelving, inventory, cleaning, decorating, and special events. They were a big part of how the library was transformed during my time at ASB. I worked hard to make sure they knew they were appreciated - with thank you notes, chocolates, coffees, breakfast, and anything else I could think of! Saying good-bye to them was as difficult as saying bye to some of the staff. Developing and training a core group of volunteers is an important way to get support, awareness, and build relationships within the community.
One Halloween the library became a witches' coven! The Library Lovelies decorated, dressed up, and planned great activities for the kids.
One Halloween the library was full of pirates, maps and buried treasures! We spent hours preparing for the day.
The alien halloween was probably my favorite! Everything glowed in the dark and was really freaky!
Saying thank you - and good bye - to the ASB Library Lovelies.
