Jonathan and I have been married for 21 years, lived in 5 countries, and adopted 1 amazing kid. We speak English, some Kiswahili, and have hung on to enough Spanish to use it as a 'secret language' around our daughter. I love traveling, baking, laughing, reading and playing with new techy gadgets. We repatriated to the states this year and we are loving being near our families. We are proud to call Rockville, MD home and love living in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area!
In the summer of 2009 Jonathan and I went to South Africa as a part of the Kalahari Library Project. We helped to stock 5 libraries and train 2 librarians in the Kalahari Desert. It was an amazing experience!
We love to travel! One of our most memorable adventures was a 3 week tour of 7 European countries - in a VW Camper van! We spent a lot of time lost, but when you are lost in the Swiss Alps or downtown Prague you don't really complain! Cape Town has been my favorite place on earth so far, but not by much!
We keep a travel / life overseas blog - Karibu!
Jonathan researching our next stop from a campsite outside of Prague.
Lost in the Alps, studying the map for a passage tall enough to pass through.
Kirstenbosch gardens in Cape Town - hanging out before the Folk Music Festival.
Our 11 year old daughter, Giana, is adopted from Tanzania. She is a bright, happy, resilient little girl who loves books, singing, chapati and spending time with other kids! We speak a lot of Swa-nglish, laugh a lot, and love being a family.
