The American School of Barcelona was in the process of mapping the school-wide curriculum into Atlas Rubicon, a web-based resource. Having the curriculum mapped in one place, consistently, made it easier for me to collaborate with classroom teachers. I could see what students were doing in their classrooms and integrate library lessons appropriately.
It was also helpful for planning. The previous librarian had begun the process of mapping the elementary curriculum, and her work helped me to understand the framework of the library lesson plans. Curriculum mapping is an ongoing process that is constantly adapted and improved, and I left knowing that I had provided a solid basis for the library curriculum for the next librarians to build on.
