MESAC Academic Games

I have had the privilege of coaching an official MESAC (Middle East South Asia Conference) sport - Academic Games. Teams compete in Academic bowls with buzzers and complete a series of 6 Olympiad challenges. I was tasked with creating the Junior Varsity and Varsity Linguistics Olympiad and it was unlink anything else I've ever done! It was very satisfying, though, to watch the kids compete to answer the challenges I had built, and to see them persevere to answer some really difficult questions. The competition was in Dubai and I was so proud of my team for placing first overall for the Junior Varsity competition.

This year we are going all online and having the first ever virtual Academic Games competition. We've been able to set up weekly scrimmages with the other schools, which is pretty awesome. Normally we only have our own teams to practice with. Our school is one of the 'hosts' this year, so I've been able to be part of the team adapting the competition for an online format. I'm excited to see how it goes.
