The Pennsylvania Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives (PA-ACNM) has been working with legislators and key stakeholders for the last three years to draft legislation to modernize midwifery legislation in Pennsylvania. As with any political process, it is taking time to arrive at an outcome that meets everyone's needs. Compromise is necessary and the final outcome is subject to change up until the legislation is passed and translated into regulation.
This module intends to educate Pennsylvania midwives and the public about legislation anticipated to be introduced in the Fall 2021 legislative session. Due to the nature of the political process, ACNM wants to acknowledge that final version of the proposed legislation may differ from the version presented here.
