"Hi, my name is _____________." I am a constituent in zip code ________, and I would like to schedule a meeting with Representative __________________ to discuss the Midwifery Modernization Bill. Would it be possible to speak directly with a scheduler?"
"Can you please tell me the name and role of the staff I will be meeting with? How do I contact them directly, if needed?"
"Hi, my name is _____________. I'm calling as a constituent and a certified nurse midwife practicing in Pennsylvania.
I'm calling to encourage you to vote to pass the Midwifery Modernization Bill out of the Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee.
The United States is facing a growing maternal health crisis and a maternity care provider shortage, especially in rural areas. In Pennsylvania, 60% of counties are medically underserved and our state received a C Grade from the March of Dime Preterm Birth Report Card. By removing costly and antiquated regulatory barriers, the Midwifery Modernization Bill will update the midwifery practice laws to allow more midwives to practice to the full extent of their competency-based education, clinical training, national certification, and experience.
[If you have personal experience to share this is a good time to include it. Examples could include a patient's experience having trouble getting a provider, or any challenges you have had getting a collaborative agreement signed.]
This will help improve health outcomes outcomes and will increase access to primary care providers for women and maternity care for birthing people. This legislation is common sense and will bring Pennsylvania into the 21st Century. Please support the Midwifery Modernization Bill and vote to pass it out of Committee.
Thank you for your time."

Dear Representative _________________________________,
I'm writing to you as a constituent and a midwife serving Pennsylvania women, families, and birthing people. I urge you to support the Midwifery Modernization Bill. The United States is facing a growing maternal health crisis and a maternity care provider shortage, especially in rural areas. In PA, 60% of counties are medically underserved and the Commonwealth received a "C" Grade from the March of Dime Preterm Birth Report Card. By removing costly and antiquated regulatory barriers, the Midwifery Modernization Bill will update the midwifery practice laws to allow more midwives to practice to the full extent of their competency-based education, clinical training, national certification, and experience. It has been shown that states with greater access to independent midwifery care have better maternal and neonatal birth outcomes and midwives are more likely to practice in rural areas.
