One Thousand Books

One Thousand Books
is a new multi-organization initiative spearheaded by PACCAL with an ambitious mission: to bring 1,000 Philippine-authored books and stories into the hands and hearts of communities across generations and borders. 

Through the voices of Philippine authors, the initiative seeks to strengthen connections among our local communities, Filipino migrants and immigrants, the Filipino American diaspora, and second-generation Filipino Americans by creating meaningful pathways to discover and rediscover the stories, histories, cultures, and lived experiences of the Philippines. 

More than a collection of books, One Thousand Books is an invitation to build bridges between homeland and diaspora, elders and youth, and memory and identity—ensuring that Philippine stories continue to be read, shared, celebrated, and carried forward by generations to come. 

On the unveiling day of the Library’s Philippine American section, we will invite our donors and community members to join us for this commemorative occasion. We kindly ask each guest to wear traditional Filipino attire for the formal handover ceremony and commemorative photographs.
