Arriving in the capital San Jose, we visited six main wildlife 'centres' around Costa Rica during this trip, before returning to San Jose. We experienced a wide range of different habitats from beaches to mountains, rain forest and cloud forest. Sometimes significant habitat changes within just a few hundred metres. For example the river/rainforest shown in the header on this page is part of the Tortuguero National Park and maybe just a kilometre or so from the Caribbean coast. During our travels between centres, we stopped off to 'smell the flowers' and experience wildlife in a more transient way.
