Monteverde

Translating as 'Green Mountain', Monteverde was our first encounter with cloud forest and our first experience of being on the Pacific side of Costa Rica.

On our arrival to the area, we first stopped off in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Here there were routes through the cloud forest canopy via wire-suspended bridges some 70m (200ft) above the forest floor. The bridges sway in the breeze just on their own. A group of people walking across does nothing to stop the swaying!

Predictably it was rather wet...
