Important information for anyone who is living with or who is a survivor of Domestic Abuse.
On Sunday 7th September at 3pm, the UK Government will sound the next Nationwide Emergency Alert which triggers a loud siren and message on all compatible mobile devices – even if the device is in silent mode.
Designed to protect the public, the alert may put victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse, who may have a hidden or second mobile device for safety, and if in a coercive or controlling relationship, the alert may reveal their normally ‘safe’ device and expose them to risk.
The following actions should be taken now to safeguard against that risk:
Disable alerts on any hidden device via ‘Settings > Notifications > Advanced Settings > Emergency Alerts;
Consider turning off or powering-down any hidden device before the test takes place.
If you are concerned about a potential risk you can contact our Parish Safeguarding Representatives.
Survivors and Supporters can access https://www.gov.uk/alerts for guidance and also find detailed instructions on how to opt-out of the Emergency Alert at https://lnkd.in/ee9mjmpy
