We are a split site school with two very different buildings, one built in 1977 and the other site built in 1871. This gave us an opportunity to look at building styles and materials from 2 very different eras.
Pupils conducted tours around both sites discussing the types of materials they could see as well as the similarities and differences between the two buildings.
Pupils then recorded Flip videos discussing various aspects of the buildings and how the materials have been used. This then led to creating Adobe Express Graphics on how the materials are used based on their properties.
The investigation carried out was based on properties of different types of rocks. The Rock detectives pack was used to assist pupils to choose the experiment they wanted to carry out. Pupils were encouraged to 'talk like a scientist' to complete the See Think and Wonder sheet used to record results.
