Scoring is meant to compare the client's individualized scores pre-test and post-test.
Scoring is on a scale of 1-10 for performance and 1-10 for satisfaction in occupational performance.
Second step is Rating scale for client to report importance of an activity from a scale of 1 for not important at all to 10 extremely important. 3rd step is scoring performance in an activity on a scale of 1-10 for 1 being not able to do it at all, and 10 being able to do it extremely well. 4th satisfaction is rated from a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being low satisfaction and 10 being the highest satisfaction. 5th step is completed after the intervention has been completed and tests the satisfaction rating of improvement in their occupational performance on a scale of 1 to 10.
Reliability:
Internal consistency reliability: reasonable range.
Test-Retest reliability: well above acceptable range.
Validity: Across various studies, the COPM has been found to have validity for assessing the measurement of occupational performance.
Can be used in a vast majority of settings and populations with occupational therapy. The COPM is available in over 40 languages. This assessment is highly individualized and can be used to understand the client's unique needs for occupational performance.
If a client's caregiver is being interviewed, they may have different goals for the client than the client has for themselves which may cause discrepency to whether the goals created for the client after administering the assessment is occupational and important to the client.
