Learning Journey in Online Platforms and Interactive Tools (2024-2025)Â
In this course, I have experienced different online resources and interactive features that have maximized my learning in criminology. Cloud computing applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Google Workspace educated me about the differences between their design and structure. Outlook is seamless in integrating with Office applications, but Google Workspace leads in real-time collaboration. Google Workspace was more effective for group work due to its effortless sharing and editing capability.
For file organization, I used OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox. Each of the platforms had its own interface, but all facilitated easy storage and organization of files. Uploading files was also easy, with slight variations in steps. I also discovered that files could be accessed offline if certain settings are enabled.
Geographic Information Systems like ArcGIS, Street Map, and Google Maps assisted in comprehending crime locations and patterns. Google Maps is ideal for general use, while ArcGIS is suitable for professional crime analysis. Writing crime incident reports through Google Sheets and mapping them out further enhanced my analytical abilities.
Utilizing Google Forms to design surveys enabled me to gather and analyze data related to criminology effectively. Google Sites facilitated my development of my student portfolio, which presented my learning activity and progress.
Overall, these resources have enhanced my online skills and made my criminology learning more engaging. The skills to collaborate, examine data, and present findings clearly will be beneficial in my future career. This experience has taught me how technology facilitates learning and research in criminal justice.
