SUMMARY
Gender and Society has been an eye-opening experience for me to see how gender influences every area of life, from health to social roles and legislation. I have discovered that gender is not solely about being female or male, but also the way society defines our roles, rights, and opportunities.
The Biomedical Perspective informed me about the biological variation between men and women and how this influences health, reproduction, and medical treatment. The Psychosocial Perspective allowed me to understand how society, culture, and family shape our perception of gender and how individuals are supposed to act. This helped me understand that gender roles are not only natural but are also influenced by our surroundings.
The Political-Legal Perspective was an eye-opener for me because I learned how the law safeguards individuals against gender discrimination and provides equality of rights. I also came to know about cross-cutting issues in gender and sexuality, including violence based on gender, discrimination in the workplace, and the rights of LGBTQ+s. These made me realize that respect and equality for everyone is crucial.
This topic sensitized me to the hardships individuals undergo due to gender discrimination and stereotypes. It has taught me to become more tolerant and advocate for gender equality in my life and professional career.
