SUMMARY
I learned the fundamentals of marksmanship in PE 4: Fundamentals of Marksmanship. I learned how to handle and shoot a firearm safely and effectively. Guns 101 was where we started, where I became familiar with various firearms, their components, and their functionality. Knowing the conditions of readiness of a firearm was also crucial since it is what identifies whether a gun is loaded or chambered or in safety mode. This is crucial in avoiding accidents.
I also learned proper pistol handling. Proper grip is important for accuracy and control. With both hands, I must have a firm but not too tight grip to control recoil and maintain steady shots. Another important lesson was handgun aiming and sight picture, where I had to concentrate on getting the front and rear sights aligned correctly. One of the arguments we covered was shooting with one eye versus two eyes. Although some shooters close an eye for improved focus, having both eyes open assists with awareness and reaction time. Overall, this topic has shown me the value of safety, discipline, and accuracy in the use of firearms. These are not only skills for shooting but also for creating focus and responsibility.
