The Health Scholar program requires 280 program hours to graduate, but there are a few different track options available depending on how quickly someone wishes to complete the program and how much time per week they have to commit to being a Health Scholar. Most individuals participate in the 15-month program, which only requires a time commitment of 4 hours per week! For those looking to complete the program faster, we also offer 9-month, 6-month, and 3-month options where Scholars will receive priority shift selection in order to finish at an accelerated pace.
Program tuition is a one-time cost that covers the entire duration of the program. This tuition includes a Scholar's enrollment in the program and completion certificate, course materials, training and instruction, uniform polo(s), and hospital clearance costs (background check, drug screen, TB test, and seasonal flu vaccine).
We try to keep enrollment costs as low as possible, but we acknowledge that some individuals may still need financial assistance. Payment plans are available. We also accept forms of financial assistance (scholarships, grant funding, etc.) from outside organizations. Please connect with your Program Manager upon program acceptance for more information.
CPR Certification: Scholars are required to carry current CPR certification at the level of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers through the American Heart Association. CPR certification is not included in tuition.
Immunizations & Titers: All Scholars will need to have record of current immunizations during the clearance process. Immunizations are generally covered by health insurance or may be obtained from a school health center or low-cost community clinics. A Scholar may also be asked to get titers, which are blood tests that check for immunity to certain diseases and may need to be obtained at the Scholar's own expense. Requirements will be discussed further during interviews.
Uniform: While the uniform polo is provided by the program, Scholars are responsible for the rest of their uniform, which consists of khaki pants and white non-canvas shoes.
Scholars who wish to transfer from one hospital site to another may pay an additional fee of $145 to cover the clearance and enrollment costs at their new site. They will also be expected to attend any site-specific training and orientation that is required by their new site.
