The greenway network was created by reviewing key connection opportunities from topics associated with ecosystem services. This included the current system of existing open spaces and connections. We looked further at opportunities that emphasized spatially connecting the existing active network including walkability, community resources, and level of traffic stress.

This map displays all current green connection in our selected focus area. This map will be updated to display areas that need renovation, areas that are currently planned or under construction, and areas that are fine as-is.
The following spreadsheet shows the parks, trails, and a selection of other greenspaces within the focus area. Basic information, including location and amenities, is listed. It should be noted that information was obtained from municipal websites and has not been verified. This information was used to create the selection of parks that were visited and also lists all developed trails in the area.
For more information on parks see the following: West Valley Parks, Taylorsville Parks & Recreation, Salt Lake County Parks.
The following designations were used:
Regional Park: The largest type of park, serving a broad region with a wide variety of amenities. Ran by the county.
District Park: Mid-sized parks that can be run by the county, cities, or a combination.
Neighborhood Parks: Small parks designed for local, neighborhood use with fewer amenities.
Trailheads: The primary purpose of this space is to provide access to a trail.
Open Space: Public access green space, without park amenities.
State Park: One state park occurs in this area, the Great Salt Lake State Park.
Amenities included are those listed by the municipalities. This graph shows the percent of parks with the listed feature. Amenities are grouped into sports and exercise (light green), and other (dark green). Any type of amenity that did not occur in three or more parks is listed in the spreadsheet under "other."
