C4. POLAND - SUCHA BESKIDZKA
APRIL 2022
APRIL 2022
On Sunday evening, there was a welcome party organized by the Erasmus Polish team. We did activities to get know each other and we had a great time all together.
On Monday morning, all participants were welcomed by the Polish school Headmistress, Anna Sala, and introduced to the school community. Then all members were guided by Polish students around the school. Later we had lunch together at the school with the rest of the students and teachers. In the afternoon we had a tour guide by Wojciech Kłapyta who is one of the teachers to show us the city. And the Polish students did the same with the foreign students. All of us, visited the castle and we had typical Polish food for dinner in the Castle in Sucha Beskidzka.
On Tuesday morning, there was a workshop where students were working on one of the tasks shared with their partners: AIR. The first part of the workshop called “Why does a balloon fly” prepared by Katarzyna Hojda (a physics teacher) consisted of making a huge balloon made of paper and then we went outside to blow it and fly it. It was an amazing experience. The second workshop called “Adventure with air” conducted by Monika Szwarc (a physics teacher). The last workshop called “We discover air and its components” prepared by Katarzyna Gałuszka (a chemistry teacher).
We were glad that the Italian team managed to connect and take part in the first and second workshop and could enjoy watching the activities the Polish team had organized. They realized also a nice video summing up the activities realized during the workshop
After lunch we went to Wadowice by bus. We visited the John Paul II Museum and the church. In the evening we had dinner with all foreign students.
On Wednesday morning, we went to Bochnia by bus and we visited Bochnia Salt Mine, one of the oldest salt mines in the world. We walked along underground paths and walls covered in salt. AIR is not polluted and its microclimate is unique and characterised by bacteriological purity. In the afternoon we visited another Salt Mine, An extraordinary UNESCO site under the ground called Wieliczka Salt Mine. We were showed beautiful salty landscapes: saline lakes and chambers as the unique St King’s Chapel.
We also had dinner there and we slept inside 120 meters underground.
All students shared a wonderful experience.
On Thursday morning, we had breakfast in the Salt Mine and then went to Krakow. We visited the Wawel Castle, the Castle’s Cathedral and the Sigismund Bell, the one of the Poland’s national Symbols, main square of the Old Town, the figure of Adam Mickiewicz on the main square, medieval Sukiennice Cloth Hall and St. Mary’s Basilica (UNESCO site)
At night we had dinner all together. We valued all this precious time together, sharing excellent food and experiences.
On Friday morning, we were working in the school. We wrote about our working week in Poland. We were working in eTwinning: uploading all materials produced in the Twinspace. Polish students, Kinga Janik and Magdalena Siwiec, also prepared materials for Genially – our collaborative eBook – where they shared all the experiences they had during the whole week. All partners got together to recapitulate and summarize. We filled in and signed the report of the kick-off meeting.
After that the Polish students invited us to join a concert prepared by talented students and integrate with the school community. Also our partners from Greece and Spain sang their traditional songs.
Then, all international participants received their certificates. During that time students had a chance to exchange their feelings, experiences and memories from the whole week spent together. We finished the same way as the first day doing activities as a closed event.
In the evening we had dinner at the hotel “Monttis” where we spent the last time all together. All the foreign students expressed their greetings and thanked for the hosting week.
All international partners departed from Sucha Beskidzka on the 2nd April and took their flight home.
All the participants of the "On the Shoulders of Giants" project agreed that the run of the transnational meeting was very good and smooth, without any problems and they enjoyed the participation in the project. All the participants found the cooperation exceptionally good.
