Preparing for School

Erin McKechnie and Andy Butler, Educational Facilitators from Tools4Teachers, explored strategies to assist culturally and linguistically diverse students during their transition to school.
Jill Watt (RTLB) and Dana Lee from the Early Intervention Team (MOE) and Claire Kelly (ASL - Complex Needs and lead for Gifted Education at Torbay School) shared valuable ideas and approaches for transitioning students with complex needs from an Early Childhood setting to school. Jill and Dana focused on supporting neurodiverse students as well as preparing the environment to accommodate their unique needs. Claire also discussed how to support our gifted and talented students. The afternoon was full of practical strategies to support teachers and tamariki.
