The title of the post is not that , but i don't really have much space
For the past few years, I’ve been using 2 emails to segregate my personal and more professional side and I recommend you do the same. For the majority of you who don’t care about spam or anything, this isn’t much of an issue.
Giving out my email and number to Institutes I presumed would just use it for important purposes such as send me their flappy bird score, was one of the more annoying annoyances I’ve encountered in a while.
Day after day of annoying spam being sent to you, advertising how you should join them as they are the best in class or calls about how they “just found out” you’ve finished A-Levels and if you have planned out what you want to do after that. That happened to me less than a week ago, and either old student databases are being sold or some places reuse their existing ones.
As you can assume, I’m not particularly fond of Institutes, or staff of said institutes selling student data. But in the end, an individual chooses a private gain over a social cost. I don’t really blame them. We’re all human in the end and choose the most selfish outcome, weather that be to scam individuals with asymmetric information or to the satisfaction gained from donating to a children’s hospital.
Life is about perspective.
To the point, now
The reason I use two emails is so, I can segregate spam and important. Once your email goes out in the wild. It could possibly be sold to 100s of different institutes over a short period. And that’s just when you sign up for one place. I’ve been handing out an email which I don’t really mind spam to go through for years now. Yes, I know I can unsubscribe from said emails, but at one point it just becomes to annoying to do so
I wish I had done the same with my phone. Unfortunately, it’s too late, and I receive messages every other day or so. That’s comparatively Isn’t that annoying. The annoying part is when they send you messages on WhatsApp or when they call you up. Now to be fair, I don’t really like them being sent to me, but its those kinds of messages and calls which are so fun for me to mess around with.
I remember making an advertiser believe I was a 10 or so, year old , and the conversation I had with her was funny to say the least , with me her telling me to give the phone to my “older brother”. In hindsight it doesn’t seem that funny, but after awhile of getting these messages. You start to get extremely annoyed and want to do something different, rather than the normal “Please stop texting me:(”
On the other hand, you can forward details of someone you don’t like or want to bug and make them mildly annoyed for a few days.
Life’s about perspective
You can either make a horrible thing feel horrible or you can enjoy the most of it.
Don't be rude to callers. They are just doing their job.
