Religious Education SSAR: Grades K-8 Classes are 9:45-11:00 AM each Sunday, September-May, in St. Anthony’s School. OLMC: Classes are at St. Mary’s School for Grades 1-5 on Tuesdays, 3:00-4:15 PM and for Grades 6-8 on Sundays, 8:30 –9:45 AM. SSAR Religious Education Office is open Sunday mornings; phone 570- 344-3185.
A registration form must be filled out EVERY year for EVERY student and returned to the Rectory office by mail or in the Collection basket. Registration is held during the month of August.
All NEW students will need a copy of their Baptismal Certificate (if not baptized in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, All Saints or St. Casimir). This should be submitted along with the registration form.
A Registration fee of $25.00 is required.
All students in Confirmation class need a copy of both Baptismal and First Holy Communion Certificates (unless the sacrament was at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel)
1. Children in grades 2 thru 5 will receive religious instruction in Church on Tuesdays at 3:15 pm. Pick up is at 4:15 pm at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel School , 325 Chestnut Street.
2. Children in grades 6-7 & 8 will receive religious instruction in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel School Auditorium, 325 Chestnut Street. Classes are held on Sundays from 9 am until 10:15 am.
3. The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is received in the 2nd grade. This is after the student has had 2 years of instruction. This Sacrament is always held the first Saturday in May.
4. The Sacrament of First Penance will be held at Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church.
5. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be held at St. Antony of Padua Church. This Sacrament also requires 2 years of instruction.
6. All parents must attend a mandatory meeting for both the Sacrament of First Penance and First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
7. The mandatory parents meeting for the Sacrament of Confirmation will be held on at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel School Auditorium.
8. The mandatory parents meeting for the Sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion will be held at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel School Auditorium.

All students seeking to receive a sacrament must attend CCD for two consecutive years. Children in 2nd grade will receive First Penance and First Holy Communion while 8th graders will be preparing to receive Confirmation. Children in these sacramental preparation programs will receive a Mass Attendance form to be signed by the priest, deacon or one of the sisters after each Mass that they attend.
