FOOD DRIVE
Benefits St. Francis Kitchen-will begin February 21 and end on March 22. Collections will be in both churches.
St. Joseph’s Day (March 19) is celebrated in many places, but especially in Sicily. St. Joseph is credited with saving the Sicilians during one of their major droughts. Tradition has it that residents prayed to St. Joseph for rain. The rain came, and their spring crops were spared from being destroyed, preventing a widespread famine for Sicily. Many families keep the tradition of honoring him with celebrations of special food and gifts at “St. Joseph’s Table.”
Our faith community will celebrate St. Joseph’s Day with a special 5:30 PM Mass at St. Anthony’s Church followed by a dinner at La Buona Vita. Reservations may be made by calling the SSAR office by March 12.
There is no charge to attend the dinner, but a free-will offering will be accepted. Donations will go to Family to Family, who will provide an Easter dinner to the needy.
The Paschal Candle is the largest and most beautiful candle in the church. It is blessed at the Easter Vigil and its light pierces the darkness, representing Christ, the Light of the world. At baptism it is lit to show the light of Christ that will lead the new Christian through life, and it is present at the head of a casket or next to an urn to remind us that Christ has conquered the darkness of death. If you would like to donate the new Paschal Candle for St. Mary’s Church in memory of a deceased loved one, please contact the OLMC Parish Office.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A LITURGICAL MINISTER?
We are in need of altar servers, lectors, and extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist for all Masses in both churches. Please contact your parish office to let us know of your interest, and we will schedule training sessions!
ATTENTION, YOUNG ADULTS!
All young adults who have finished college or trade school or have entered the job market should no longer be receiving children’s envelopes. Once a young adult has turned 21, he or she should call the office and register as an adult parishioner. Even if you continue to live in your parents’ home, you should still be registered as an adult parishioner on your own.
ATTENTION, FUTURE BRIDES AND GROOMS
Please contact the church as soon as possible when planning your wedding! Too often, couples want to book the reception hall before doing anything else. Diocesan policy is that the couple must meet with the priest at least 6 months before a contemplated marriage. And it happens at times that the sacrament cannot be celebrated on the date that has been chosen, either because there is already a wedding scheduled that day, or the priest is unavailable, or there needs to be more time for the sacramental preparation. Before any date for a wedding can be given, the couple must meet with the priest, so please be mindful of this before booking any reception hall!
