Christmas Party for the children of Friends of the Poor, hosted by SS. Anthony and Rocco Holy Name Society and members of St. Anthony's Playground Association, is on Saturday, December 6 from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM at the Parish Hall at St. Rocco’s. The day will include arts and crafts, Christmas carols, lunch, and a visit from Santa. Volunteers and Confirmation students are invited to assist during the day and can contact any society member or association member or come to the hall that morning of the party by 10AM. Set-up is on Thursday, December 4 at 6PM.
WELCOME THE LIGHT, an Advent service of word and song, will be presented on Wednesday, December 10, at St. Anthony’s Church in Dunmore, and on Thursday, December 11, at Holy Family Parish Church, Luzerne. The services begin at 6:30 PM and are open to the public at no charge.
The service features the combined choir of more than 40 voices from Holy Family parish in Luzerne and SS. Anthony & Rocco and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parishes, Dunmore, as well as several soloists and an instrumental ensemble. Welcome the Light offers those who participate an opportunity to embrace the season of Advent and its spirit of preparation for Christmas through Scripture readings and musical selections. Mark your calendars now and plan to join us!
ATTENTION, YOUNG ADULTS!
All young adults who have finished college or trade school or have entered the job market should no longer be receiving children’s envelopes. Once a young adult has turned 21, he or she should call the office and register as an adult parishioner. Even if you continue to live in your parents’ home, you should still be registered as an adult parishioner on your own.
ATTENTION, FUTURE BRIDES AND GROOMS
Please contact the church as soon as possible when planning your wedding! Too often, couples want to book the reception hall before doing anything else. Diocesan policy is that the couple must meet with the priest at least 6 months before a contemplated marriage. And it happens at times that the sacrament cannot be celebrated on the date that has been chosen, either because there is already a wedding scheduled that day, or the priest is unavailable, or there needs to be more time for the sacramental preparation. Before any date for a wedding can be given, the couple must meet with the priest, so please be mindful of this before booking any reception hall!
