The next joint parish in person Baptismal Preparation class will be scheduled for 6:00 PM on January 15, 2026, at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in Freeland. Enter through the side door to the church on Chestnut Street, not the main doors to the church. Please note, that the last date to schedule a baptism prior to start of the Lenten Season is Sunday, February 15, 2026. The next opportunity for scheduling a baptism will not be until after Easter.

HAVE YOU BEEN ASKED TO BE A SPONSOR FOR EITHER BAPTISM OR CONFIRMATION?
It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen as a sponsor for either Baptism or Confirmation. Those who
asked you to take on this solemn responsibility are looking to YOU to be a role model for the person
receiving those sacraments.
The Roman Catholic Church has some basic criteria one must meet to be a sponsor:
1. You must be registered in the parish. This means that you have your own registration, not your
parents’.
2. You must attend Church on a regular basis.
If you do not fit the above two criteria, we are unable to issue the document saying you are a
PRACTICING CATHOLIC. This is the teachable moment. If you want to be a sponsor and are not
active in the church, there is still time for you. Make an appointment with the pastor to talk about the
situation. The door is always open!
PARENTS: Make sure the Godparents you choose are able to meet these two very important criteria.
Being a Godparent is not just an honorary title. It is a commitment to the faith formation of your child.
