MANDATORY BAPTISMAL PREPARATION CLASS
The MANDATORY BAPTISMAL PREPARATION CLASS will be at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 23rd in the St, Joseph Room at Good Shepherd Church. Please register by calling Immaculate Conception Office at 570-636-3035 or Good Shepherd Office at 570-788-3141. Please plan to attend the class well in advance of your baby’s Baptism.

HAVE YOU BEEN ASKED TO BE A SPONSOR FOR EITHER BAPTISM OR CONFIRMATION?
It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen as a sponsor for either Baptism or Confirmation. Those who
asked you to take on this solemn responsibility are looking to YOU to be a role model for the person
receiving those sacraments.
The Roman Catholic Church has some basic criteria one must meet to be a sponsor:
1. You must be registered in the parish. This means that you have your own registration, not your
parents’.
2. You must attend Church on a regular basis.
If you do not fit the above two criteria, we are unable to issue the document saying you are a
PRACTICING CATHOLIC. This is the teachable moment. If you want to be a sponsor and are not
active in the church, there is still time for you. Make an appointment with the pastor to talk about the
situation. The door is always open!
PARENTS: Make sure the Godparents you choose are able to meet these two very important criteria.
Being a Godparent is not just an honorary title. It is a commitment to the faith formation of your child.
