The Parish is where the Church lives according to the American Bishops. Parishes are communities of faith, of action, and of hope. They are where the gospel is proclaimed and celebrated, where believers are formed and sent to renew the earth.[Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social mission of the Parish.]
Bishop Bambera reminds us that the parish is, first, a people. It is a people called together by God. It is a people empowered by the Spirit to make increasingly true and obvious their response to God through Christ. The parish has only one purpose to continue the mission of Jesus Christ.
Our Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body made up of 12 members of the parish community, who work with the Pastor to to guide and determine the direction of the parish.
The role of the Parish Pastoral Council is to plan for and oversee the apostolic works of the parish which fulfill the mission and ministry of the larger Church and are rooted in the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ.
Membership of the Council will include Pastor, Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Finance Council Representative and members-at-large. The Parish Pastoral Council will maintain four committees to support the growth and ministry of the parish, based on the recommendation of Bishop Bambera. One or more Council members will serve as liaison between the activities and the Parish Pastoral Council. This will provide greater communication, linkage, and planning among all parish programs.
Parish Pastoral Council: Our parishes operate a combined
Parish Pastoral Council to serve the members of both parishes.
The Parish Pastoral Council guides and determines the
direction of the parishes to fulfill the goals of our pastoral
plans and the mission of the Church. Would you consider
sharing your gifts as a member of the Pastoral Council? Do you
know someone who would make a good member of the
Pastoral Council? Nomination forms are available at the
entrances to both churches and can be returned in the
collection basket or to the parish office. Nominations will be
accepted through June 30.
Dear Parishioners:
We are honored to serve as your Pastoral Council members. It is a blessing to bring together members
from both Good Shepherd and Immaculate Conception to work together and link our parishes as one
family. One of our continued goals is to make both parishes the most welcoming places they can be and
we remain dedicated to that goal.
As your Pastoral Council members, in addition to serving God, we are here to serve you! Every idea
and suggestion you offer is given careful consideration. We've been especially grateful to those who
have taken the time to fill out surveys in the past because they have shaped how we work to fulfill our
pillar goals of Word, Worship, Community and Service.
It's been very valuable to us to have your feedback because we want to continue to do our best to offer
the activities and events you want to see.
We ask for your continued prayers as we welcome several new members to the council and bid farewell
to many long-standing members who served us well. We remind everyone that Pastoral Council
meetings are open to the public. You're welcome to attend and bring your thoughts, ideas, questions and
concerns. Meetings for this term (September 2024 to August 2025) will be held at Good Shepherd
Church. We generally meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. but please watch the
monthly calendar insert in the bulletin for any changes to the schedule.
We look forward to interacting with each and every one of you throughout this next year and encourage
you to come and say hello to any one of us when you see us at Mass or other events and activities.
Thank you again for entrusting us to lead your Pastoral Council. We are grateful for your support and
look forward to serving you well.
