2014, the 499th year, is the start of a year-long buildup to year 500; Where The Joven – Youth – Cross and the Image of the Holy Mother will embark on a year-long trek, visiting all the parishes within the three dioceses of the country.
Sending Mother and Child off for their weekly stay in each parish was suppose to start with a mass celebrated by the Bishops and the clergies from the three dioceses.
The Holy Mother was to arrive from the west, and the Joven – youth – Cross from the east.
Only when Mother and Child meet at Tasi Tolu Will the ceremony commence…
Mary got there on time…
but the cross was over 3 hours late!
Seemingly, the cross had to negotiate through a few blockades
set up by the faithful of the sucos along the cross’ route.
Each suco demanding the blessings of the cross
be showered upon them before the cross was allowed to pass.
With Mother and Child finally united after the long wait…
... mass finally started!
