In a cul-de-sac the locals call ‘mission corner’, and barely 5 minutes from the airport, sits the Mission Compound, where the headquarters of the Diocese of Daru-Kiunga is situated.
The compound houses the Diocesan Administration Office, the Diocesan workshops & Stores, the Diocesan Education service, the Diocesan Refugee Service, HIV/AIDS centre, Callan Service for the disabled , as well as accommodations for religious and lay volunteers.

It is from The Mission Compound that the Catholic mission of the entire Western Province is administered. The logistical flow of labour and material to the remotest parts of the province is controlled from within the Diocesan headquarters.
The mission consists of 13 parishes and 15 service organisations that service the human, societal and spiritual needs of the entire province.

Christmas in the Mission Compound
Our first Christmas celebrated in the Mission Compound (24 November 2010).
The Children’s Choir from the Mission’s primary school came with their greetings.
