DemiBumi
On the 28 of February, we went to the DemiBumi workshop for our interview with Ms. Jessica Halim as the co-founder of DemiBumi. They showed their products and what they're doing. They are making products that are green and natural. They said that they do campaigns to spread awareness. We learned about making various products with natural resources, such as beeswax candles from beeswax. We also learned that we should start acting for our own generation because later, in 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean if we don't start acting.
The co-founder of Demi Bumi started the business with her friend, because they wanted to find a way to reduce the amount of waste we make every day. They want to help stop plastic waste from going into landfills and rivers. Their goal is to prevent at least some of the plastic from being thrown away and reused instead. They began by making a prototype of a reusable product.
They decided to fund the business themselves by selling the products they created.
They also mentioned that people can help by visiting their Instagram page or buying their products.
One of the reusable products they made is a coffee sachet. This is the bag that holds coffee beans when you buy them. The bag is made with aluminum, which helps keep your food warm. They sewed fabric on the bag, added velcro, and sold it to people. The coffee sachets became very popular, and soon, her friends wanted them too. But then a problem arose. They needed more coffee sachets, which meant they had to buy more coffee beans. This would be too expensive, so they started asking coffee shops to donate their used sachets.
After we finished our interview we gave the 3 fruit plants (guava plants, mango plant and rambutan plant) for Ms. Jessica as a token of appreaciation because she really loves to plants fruits and vegetables.
