Mathematics
We used what we learned in math about percentages and pie charts to look at our survey results. First, we calculated the percentages to see how much each answer showed up. Then, we created pie charts to make the results easier to understand. The pie charts helped us see the information more clearly. This was very important because it helped us understand the results better. We could also analyze the data and see which answers were most popular. It was a helpful way to study our survey results.
We also used math to count how much money we earned at the bazaar. First, we added up all the money we made from selling items. Then, we calculated the percentage of the profit. This helped us see how much money we made after covering the costs. Using math in this way was a fun and important part of our project. It helped us understand how the bazaar was successful and how much we were able to raise.
Music
We wrote a song about the effects of plastics in our oceans. First, we came up with the lyrics. Then, we created a melody to go with the words. Caleb's dad helped us with the song. He took us to a studio where we recorded it. Once we had the recording, we made movements to go along with our jingle. After that, we performed the song during the Spellbound break time assembly. It was a fun project.
Art
We created an invitation poster to share the dates of our PYP exhibition opening ceremony. We used Canva to design the poster, which made it easy and fun. In addition to the invitation, we also made another poster for our bazaar to raise funds for Divers Clean Action using Canva. We then created an art installation to raise awareness about plastic pollution. The installation was a turtle made out of styrofoam and plastic, showing how plastic harms sea life. It was a great way to spread the message.
Dance
We created a short and simple dance for our jingle. The dance was minimalistic and easy to follow. We used what we learned in dance class to help us come up with the moves. Each movement matched the words of the song. We kept the dance simple so everyone could join in. It was fun to connect the dance with the lyrics, and it made our performance even more exciting.
Indonesian
We used our knowledge of the Bahasa language to interview DCA, DPRRI Komisi 4, including Pak Sonny (left) and Dr. Ketut (right). We prepared questions in Indonesian so that they could understand our questions better. During the interview, we listened carefully to their answers. It was a great opportunity to practice our language skills and learn more about their work.
English
We did a presentation to convince people that plastic in our oceans is a big problem and that we need to stop it. In our presentation, we explained how plastic harms sea life and pollutes the water, making the oceans dangerous for animals. To share our ideas, we used English as our main language to talk to each other. Not only that, we used English for our survey analysis. This helped us gather important information for our project and understand the issue better. We also used English for our campaign. It was a great way to practice our English skills while raising awareness about the problem of plastic in the oceans.
